Build Your Own 3-D Race Game Using X-box Controllers

(3rd – 8th Grade)

Students will create a 3D race game where the student will race against a “Bot” (AI – artificial intelligence) that the student will program! Students will learn how to create an environment for a robust and challenging game. They will program their sprite (character) to have the desired responses to keystrokes and game controller keys and knobs, as well as program artificial intelligence into opponent and enemy bots!

Day: Saturday  Time:  9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Rapid Prototyping with Roblox

(4th – 8th Grade)

Students will rapidly prototype a 3D video game within Roblox Studio using built in features within the Roblox interface. Students will also write the code that will cause the game features to execute. This class is excellent for any student whether he/she has Roblox coding experience or not.

Day: Saturday  Time:  11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Build and Keep: Reflex Game

(4th – 8th Grade)

Build a miniature reflex game that will allow two players to test their reaction speeds against one another. This game is similar in style to the button pressing action seen on Family Feud. Whoever presses their button fastest in reaction to the LED will be deemed the winner! This course is ideal for kids that are interested in and curious about electronics. This activity covers basic concepts such as breadboard circuit prototyping, microcontrollers, buttons, resistors, and LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Best of all, you get to take the project home!

Day: Saturday  Time:  1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
