Course: Recreating Space Shooter with Scratch

Course description

Defend the galaxy from enemy spacecraft in this recreation of a space shooter game. Students will maneuver their ship while firing missiles at their enemy. Keep in mind, your enemy will shoot back! What’s a game without an antagonist! Students will program both the enemy space craft and their own space craft in this fun and engaging game. Advanced topics in variable initialization, the Cartesian Coordinate Plane, and control structures are explored.

Learning Objectives

  • Students will animate sprites using frame-by-frame techniques.
  • Students will experiment with class constructors in Scratch.
  • Students will practice random spawning by using random number generators to dynamically create objects in their game.
